Project objectives: 1. To determine current knowledge within the music & entertainment sector in Bolsover district of the Control of noise at work regulations 2005. 2. Raise awareness within the music & entertainment sector in Bolsover district of the Control of noise at work regulations 2005 and the duty to comply. 3. Identify businesses which may be at risk of breaching the legislation and provide guidance in order to comply.

Reason for consultation: There is no current knowledge of how or whether the music and entertainment sector are taking steps to protect the health of their employees hearing in the district of Bolsover. Hence the consultation process will help to determine levels of noise exposure to bar staff and the effectiveness of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 in protecting employee’s health. Two respondents will be chosen from the returned questionnaires to have a free noise survey carried out whilst entertainment takes place at the premises so as to show what the actual noise levels bar staff are subjected to. The two premises will be each given the results of their surveys to help carry out a risk assessment and provide a better working environment which complies with the legislation.
