Description: The consultation is to identify any issues which affect customers' participation in kerbside recycling schemes. The consultation will involve two temporary staff carrying out door to door interviews with residents via a questionnaire. The project will run from March 2009 to September 2009. The areas involved will include ones which perform poorly and also those which perform well so that comparisons can be made. In addition, small exhibitions in Contact Centres to promote the recycling schemes, inviting customer comments, will take place.

Project objectives: To indentify and prioritise the main reasons residents do not participate in roadside recycling schemes. To identify the reasons behind the difference in tonnages between areas within the district.
Reason for consultation: To gain a greater understanding of the issues which affect residents participation in recycling schemes. Information currently held on areas, participation and tonnages does not identify the reaons for the differences in tonnages on rounds. Consequently, a consultation is necessary in order to identify what prevents residents from recycling.
