ex Waste to Resource Strategy Consultation - an external consultation

Description: Waste currently costs the East Midlands £6bn a year - it is a serious environmental, social and economic burden. We now have the chance to change the way we all think of and deal with waste so that instead of being a problem it makes a real contribution to the economy and efficiency of the region. Thanks to great strides in the reuse and recycling industry, many of the different types of waste generated have now become valuable, saleable resources, rather than rubbish we cannot use. That is the opportunity we want to exploit. Our vision is to work towards becoming a zero waste region by 2020. We would very much welcome your views on the general approach, principles and priorities and any other ideas you have about the best way forward.
