Description: North East Derbyshire District Council has prepared a draft Development Framework to guide the future development of Eckington town centre. To adopt the development framework as a planning document, Town and Country Planning legislation needs to be followed. Formal public consultation will be carried out between 3 November and 15 December 2011 and the community and stakeholders will be invited to make comments. You can make comments online or using a representation form both of which can be found by following the link above. There will also be a public drop-in event on 6th December between 12 noon and 7pm at Eckington Business Centre 2 where the proposals can also be viewed and commented upon. There will also be an exhibition in Eckington library between 28th November and 3rd December.

Project objectives: We are required to carry out a formal consultation process to gather comments from the community and stakeholders before the framework can be adopted as a planning document.
Reason for consultation: The preparation of the draft Development Framework follows informal consultation which took place in Feb/March 2011. To adopt the framework as a planning document, Town and Country Planning legislation needs to be followed. Formal public consultation will be carried out between 3 November and 15 December 2011 and the community and stakeholders will be invited to make comments.
Expected outcomes: It is intended to eventually adopt the development framework as a Supplementary Planning Document and to use it to inform the decision making process for planning applications following the formal consultation process to gather comments.

How results will fed back to respondents: Every person who submits formal comments on the draft document and asks to be notified of the outcome will be written to directly. There will also be feedback on the NEDDC website and in press and local media.
How information about subsequent decisions made and services provided/improved will be fed back to the consultee groups, the wider public and other stakehonders: As above.
